Con frecuencia en Dasi Glam hemos afirmado que una de nuestras metas es crear una comunidad de Artistas y Creativos. Te invitamos a presentar tus piezas y tu arte  y hasta elaboramos unas preguntas para ayudarte a presentarlas.

Desde hace bastante tiempo que seguimos el trabajo de Maria Alejandra Peña de Lavativarios porque creemos que tiene un talento y una creatividad inmensas. Sus piezas son cada vez más bellas y es evidente  la pasión que se refleja en todo su trabajo

Hoy tenemos el honor de tenerla como invitada como parte de nuestra Entrevistas Creativas. Bienvenida Alejandra y gracias por estar con nosotras.

At Dasi Glam we have frequently mentioned that one of our goals is to create a community of Artists and Creatives. We invited you to present your designs and art here, and even wrote a few questions to help you in your presentation.

For some time now we have been followingt the work of Maria Alejandra Peña of Lavativarios, because we believe she has inmense talent and creativity. Her designs are more beautiful each time and the passion reflected in all her work is very obvious.

We have the honor of having her as a guest today, on our Creative Interviews. Welcome Alejandra and thank you for being here with us.

Tu Nombre: María Alejandra Peña… (Ale para los amigos)

Nombre de tu empresa: LAVATIVARIOS

Mi marca se denomina LAVATIVARIOS. Un nombre por demás folklórico, muy venezolano, porque quería abarcar muchas cosas en ese momento, es decir: ¡Toda Lavativa!

Quería que el nombre tuviese chispa e identidad, que la gente se detuviese a pensar… ¿Qué significa?...

Your Name: María Alejandra Peña… (Ale for my friends)

Name of your company: LAVATIVARIOS

My brand is called LAVATIVARIOS. A very quaint name, very Venezuelan, because I wanted to include many things at the time: that is, ¡all the Lavativas! (Lavativa is a typical colloquial Venezuelan term that means “anything” and/or “a little bit of all”).

I wanted the name to be witty and with identity, that people would stop to think: What does it mean?...

Deseaba involucrar en él los diseños de alambrismo en los que estaba incursionando en ese momento, queriéndolos aunar a un trabajo anterior que había realizado dirigido a diseños con recamados (bordados con lentejuelas, perlas, pedrerías etc.) que hice en trajes de baños, chaquetas, jeans, carteras.

Esto aun no lo he logrado, reunir mis dos periodos de creación, por cuanto me he dedicado a este arte del diseño de piezas de joyería artesanal por completo.

I also wanted to include wire jewelry designs which I was involved in at the moment, wanting to add them to a previous work I had made involving embroidering designs (with sequins, pearls, beads, etc) made in bathing suits, jackets, jeans and bags.

I still haven’t quite managed to reunite my two creation periods, because I am completely dedicated to this art of designing art jewelry.

Háblanos un poco sobre ti:

Abogada de profesión y ¡diseñadora por pasión! Así me defino personalmente. El gusanito o la musa por todo lo que signifique verse bien siento lo llevo desde niña en la sangre. ¡Y hasta heredado! Mi abuela paterna era sumamente coqueta, no recuerdo haberla visto jamás salir del cuarto en la mañana sin color en sus labios.

Siempre fui una niña coqueta, a quien le encantaba el maquillaje, los tacones, la moda… llevarla a mis espacios y a mis posibilidades en muchas oportunidades.

Muchas veces deshacía collares o pulseras y de ellas mismas rehacía otras, con un sello más cercano a mí, más Alejandra.

Tell us a bit about you:

I’m a lawyer by profession and a designer by passion! That’s how I define myself. I feel I have in my blood this longing or muse for all that means looking good, ever since I was a little girl. And I even inherited it: my paternal grandmother was very coquette; I don’t ever remember having seen her leaving her room in the morning, without a little color in her lips.

I was also a very coquettish girl, loved make up, high heels, fashion… to take fashion to my spaces and to my possibilities in many opportunities.

Often times I would undo necklaces or bracelets to make other with a closer personal style, more Alejandra…

Cuéntanos sobre tus Creaciones y proceso creativo:

Comencé a tomar el diseño más en serio cuando incursione en bordados de ropa. Fue en la época de aquella moda sacra que ahora está de vuelta… (Todo es cíclico definitivamente). ¡Hasta en TV salí varias veces!

Diseñaba franelas, chaquetas y carteras con motivos de los santos locales, todo bordado con lentejuelas, pedrería, perlas. Proseguí luego con bordados en trajes de baño, y me convertí en proveedora exclusiva de dos tiendas en el interior del país. Una hermosa experiencia.

Tell us about your designs and creative process:

I started to take design seriously when I began to embroider clothes. It was at the time of the trend of religious images which is now returning (everything is definitely cyclical). I was even on TV a few times!

I designed t-shirts, jackets and bags with motifs of local saints. All embroidered with sequins, beads, pearls. After that I started to embroider bathing suits and became the exclusive supplier for two stores in other cities outside Caracas. It was a beautiful experience.

Me inicié con el alambrismo en la Isla de Coche en el estado Nueva Esparta, cuando vi el trabajo de algunos artesanos. Quería una pieza especial para mí, y me atreví a dirigir al artesano en lo que quería, una pieza a mi gusto. Creo ese fue el clic de todo esto. ¡Allí me enganchó el alambre!

I started working with wire jewelry when I went to Coche Island in the Nova Esparta State, Venezuela, and saw the work of some artisans. I wanted a special design for myself and dared to direct the artisan explaining what I wanted, a piece more of my taste. I think this was the “click” that initiated all this. I was hooked on wire jewelry!

¿Cómo empezaste a hacer tus piezas?

Ha sido un proceso de mucha observación y hasta de estudio. Me ha movido enormemente la curiosidad de cómo están realizadas las cosas. Las combinaciones, los colores, los materiales que se usan. Como llevar al terreno de mis grandes amigos los alambres esas ideas que en las noches llegan a mi mente. No duermo sin tener un cuaderno y lápiz al lado, siento que si no lo anoto lo olvido.

Ahora incursiono en un mundo apasionante como lo es la orfebrería, tratando de estudiar con esmero este arte con un gran deseo en superarme a mi misma cada vez.

How did you start making your creations?

It has been a process of great observation and even study. I have been enormously curious to see how things are made. The combinations, colors and materials used. How to take all the ideas that come to my mind at night to my good friends: the wires. I don’t go to sleep without having a pencil and notebook by my side, I have the feeling that if I don’t make a note I’ll forget.

I am now in the fascinating world of gold and silversmithing, trying to diligently study this art, with a great desire to excel myself each time.

¿Qué te inspira?

Sencillamente la vida. ¡Todo es inspiración!
Me siento a crear y con el material frente a mí sencillamente lo siento… él y yo solo sabemos que haremos juntos… ah, sí hay un cómplice, la nocturnidad... ¡Creo en otra vida fui lechuza!

¿Qué tipo de materiales usas?

Hago toda la parte de alambrismo con alambres de cobre. Luego todo va a baño de oro o plata. No me gusta trabajar con los alambres que vienen ya bañados… No sé, sencillamente no me hallo.

No hay nada como la emoción de imaginar cómo quedara la pieza así como el descubrimiento al abrir la caja cuando te la entregan y ver que tu mente sabía qué hacía. Creo que es el verdadero proceso creativo. En cuanto a las piedras, perlas, cristales, jades que me encantan… muchas, muchas piedras.

What inspires you?

Just life. Everything is my inspiration!
I sit down to create and having the materials in front of me, I just feel it. The materials and I know what we will do together. And yes, there is an accomplice: night time. I think that in another life I was an owl!

What type of materials do you use?

The wire work is all made with copper wire. Then everything is gold plated or silver plated. I don’t like to work with the wires that are already plated. I don’t know why, I just don’t like it.

There is nothing like the emotion of imagining how the piece will end up, the discovery of opening the box when it is delivered, as well as knowing that your mind knew what it was doing. I believe that is the real creative process. In what concerns to beads, pearls, crystals and jades which I love… lots and lots of them.

¿Cuáles son tus colores y combinaciones preferidos?

Todos los colores me encantan; los verdes manzana, los naranja… el morado con azul turquesa… es una de las combinaciones que más me gusta. En Venezuela tenemos muchos problemas para conseguir materiales - la importación es difícil- por eso compro mucho de todo para que siempre me sobre. Cada pieza requiere cierto color. Por ejemplo, no me imagino una mariposa en negro, siempre llevará turquesa… la identifico así.

What are your favorite colors and combinations?

I love all colors; apple greens, oranges… purple with turquoise… those are some of the combinations I like more. In Venezuela there are many problems to find materials -it’s very difficult to import them- so I buy a lot of everything and always have some to spare. Each piece requires certain color. For instance, I can’t imagine a butterfly in black; it will always have something in turquoise… that’s how I identify it.

Cuéntanos un poco sobre una pieza que hayas hecho recientemente y que te haya gustado de forma especial:

No suelo repetir piezas, de cada una hago máximo 3, ninguna igual a otra. Todas mis piezas me gustan, cada una tiene su encanto, con todas puedo quedarme. Particularmente ahorita estoy enamorada de un trío de pulseras de mi última colección Gr-Asia Bendiciones Divinas del Oriente. El Buddha me trae la protección ancestral del oriente así como la Pepa de Zamuro, autóctona de nuestro occidente.

Tell us a little bit about a recently made design which you have specially liked:

I don’t usually repeat designs; I make 3 of each at the most. None equal to the other. I like all my designs, each has its own charm and I could keep any of them for myself. I am now specially in love with three bracelets of my last collection, Gr-Asia Divine Middle East Blessings. The Buddha brings me the Middle East’s ancient protection as well as the Zamuro Seeds which are autochthonous of the West of our country.

¿Cuál consideras que es tu toque personal?

Serían varios: El acabado de la pieza: Ese es el mejor toque que puedo darle. Soy bastante exigente. Mucho, diría yo. No vendo nunca una pieza que yo como cliente no me pondría. La exclusividad: Detesto los uniformes, detesto andar igualita al gentío. Cada pieza mía es única. Aprovechar el material y la tendencia: Aprovecho de esto lo mejor y optimizo mis piezas bajo esa premisa.

What do you consider is your personal touch?

A few things: The finishing details of the piece, which are the best touch I can give it. I am very demanding. I would say, very much, I never sell a piece which I, as a client, would not use. Exclusivity: I hate “uniforms”, looking like everybody else. Each of my pieces is unique. Taking advantage of materials and trends: I take whatever is best and improve my pieces under that premise.

¿Qué planes tienes para el futuro?

Seguir aprendiendo, seguir dando lo mejor de mí. Crear desde el corazón y con mucha pasión. Crecer.

¿Qué consejos nos puedes dar?

No dejar de seguir las corazonadas; nunca dejar de luchar por tus sueños.
Visualizar lo grande, y tener todos los sentidos abiertos para que sientas tu musa. Y sobre todo, creer en ti, en lo que haces, y amar lo que haces.

Continue to learn and exceed myself. Create from the heart with a lot of passion. Grow.

What advice can you give us?
Follow your instincts; never stop fighting for your dreams.
Visualize big style and have all your senses alerted to receive your muse. And above all, believe in yourself, in what you do and love what you do.

Hemos comentado con frecuencia en Dasi Glam que una de nuestras metas es crear una comunidad de Artistas y Creativos. Hace más o menos tres años estuve en Barcelona y quedé impresionada con el ambiente artístico que se vive en todas partes, la energía positiva que consigues donde quiera que vayas, la creatividad que flota en el aire. Son una ciudad y un pueblo verdaderamente increíbles. Mun es fiel representante de esa energía y de esa creatividad sin límites y quedamos encantadas con sus piezas mágicas.

Today we are very honored to present the first of our Creatives: Mun Muntadas of Barcelona, Spain.


I was in Barcelona about three years ago and was very impressed with the artistic environment that you find everywhere, the positive energy that you perceive wherever you go and the creativity that floats in the air. They are a really an incredible city and people. Mun is a true representative of this energy and limitless creativity and we are fascinated by her magical pieces.


Here she is, introducing herself in her own words.

Me llamo Montse Duran Muntadas, soy de Terrassa (Barcelona) y soy Licenciada en Bellas Artes por la Universidad de Barcelona.

Aunque durante mis años escolares me dediqué sobre todo a los estudios científicos, en gran parte a causa de las ideas familiares en las que trabajar de algo artístico era imposible, desde muy pequeña la Creatividad me hacía transformar cualquier objeto en algo bello y dotarlo de un nuevo significado.

My name is Montse Duran Muntadas, I’m from Terrassa (Barcelona) and I’m a Bachelor in Fine Arts by the Barcelona University.

Even though during my studies I was mostly dedicated to scientific studies, mainly due to the influence of my family’s beliefs about how it was impossible to work as an artist, ever since I was very young Creativity made me transform any object into something beautiful and assign it a new meaning.

Mi pasión por el vidrio empezó una noche mientras veía una película junto a mi padre. En una de las escenas la protagonista salía en un taller soplando una pieza. Yo, por aquel entonces (debía tener unos 12 años) desconocía ese material más que por su utilización en ventanas y demás. Al ver que se podía trabajar como semi-líquido, que se le podía insuflar aire y modificar su volumen, me pareció MÁGICO.

My passion for glass started one night while seeing a movie with my father. On one of the scenes the main character was in a workshop hand-blowing a piece of glass. At that time (I was maybe 12) I didn’t know this material beyond its common use in windows and such. When I saw that it could be worked in a semi-liquid state, that you could blow air into it and modify its volume, it was MAGIC.

Eso me impacto tanto, que años más tarde habiendo empezado ya la carrera de Bellas Artes y sin encontrar un material con el que identificarme, abandoné los estudios para irme a la Real Fábrica de Vidrios de Segovia, donde me enseñarían y practicaría con varias técnicas; vidrio al soplete, vidrio soplado, vitrales, fusing, termoformado, etc. Pero sobre todo fue donde conocí artistas internacionales y grandes maestros del vidrio, que -al verlos trabajar- me transmitieron esa pasión tan necesaria y tan importante para moldear y crear con el vidrio.

It had such an impact on me that years later, having already initiated my Fine Art studies and by then still not having found a material with which to identify myself, I abandoned my studies to go to the Segovia Royal Glass Factory, where I would learn and practice with various techniques such as blowtorched and mouth-blown glass, stained-glass, fusing, thermoformed glass, etc. But it was also where I met international artists and great masters of the glass art, who –by seeing them work- transmitted to me that passion so necessary and so important to mold and create with glass.

De vuelta a la Universidad realicé varios proyectos artísticos en los que unía aquello que más me interesa, las emociones intrínsecas de las personas, sus vivencias y sentimientos, con el material que para mí sabe evocarlo mejor: el vidrio.

Upon returning to the University I made various artistic projects uniting what interests me more: people’s intrinsic emotions, their experiences and feelings, together with a material which –to me- knows how to evoke them like no other: glass.

A partir de ahí inicié en paralelo mi proyecto de joyería en vidrio, Mun Muntadas. En él utilizo la técnica del vidrio al soplete, creando piezas únicas ya que se realizan una a una. Intento que cada pieza lleve un poco de esas vivencias personales, transmita un estado de ánimo, una sensación. En ellas el trabajo del color y la técnica son esenciales. Me apasionan los colores del vidrio, transparentes u opacos, jugar con ellos, sobreponerlos, arriesgar en composiciones, atreverse y crear luz y fuerza... La técnica, el valor de las cosas bien hechas, la obsesión por la perfección, el buscar siempre técnicas nuevas, nuevos formatos, sorprender...

Since then in parallel I initiated my glass jewelry Project: Mun Muntadas. I use the blowtorch glass technique, creating unique designs because they are made one by one. I try to instill into each design a little of those personal experiences and that it transmits a state of mind, a sensation. In these pieces the color work and technique are essential. I am passionate about the glass colors, transparent or opaque, playing with them, overlapping them, taking risks on the compositions, daring to create light and strength… The technique, the value of something well done, the obsession for perfection, the search for new techniques, new designs, surprising…

En el vidrio al soplete o soplado cuando inicias una pieza tienes que llegar a su finalización sin poder parar. Durante ese tiempo entre el vidrio y tú hay una conectividad especial, desaparece todo lo demás, el resto no puede existir. Si te equivocas no hay vuelta atrás, pierdes la pieza. En esos momentos se crea un vínculo; un vínculo que los demás pueden ver y que laman PASIÖN.

Actualmente sigo haciendo mis proyectos artísticos y la joyería, abriéndome cada vez más a la colaboración de artesanos que trabajan otros materiales y buscando en la belleza y la originalidad el futuro de mis piezas.

When you work hand-blown glass, when you initiate a piece, you have to end it without stopping. During that time there is a special connection between you and the glass, everything else disappears and cannot exist. Because if you make a mistake, there is no turning back, you lose the piece. During those times a bond is created; a bond that others can see and call PASSION.

Presently I’m still working on my artistic projects and jewelry, opening up more and more to collaboration with artisans who work with other materials, and searching in beauty and originality for the future of my pieces.

Cuéntanos un poco sobre una pieza que hayas hecho recientemente y que te haya gustado de forma especial.
Una de mis últimas creaciones es una pieza que se llama Aika (canción de amor en japonés). Se trata de un proyecto con artistas de técnicas muy diferentes, en el que todos nos hemos basado en un texto para crear una pieza y con las que se realizarán exposiciones itinerantes. Todavía no he publicado fotos, pronto revelaré el secreto. Estoy de lo más orgullosa con el collar que he realizado; ¡me encantan los retos y realizar proyectos artísticos!

We want to know a little more, Mun!

Tell us a bit about a design you have recently made and that you have specially liked.
One of my last creations is a piece called Aika (love song in Japanese). It’s a joint project with artists of very different techniques in which we all have used a text as basis to create a design, and with which we will be making itinerant exhibitions. I still haven’t published photos; the secret will be out very soon. I am very proud of the necklace I’ve made; I love challenges and making artistic projects!

¿Cuál consideras que es tu toque personal?
La verdad es que no lo sé...las mezclas de colores, las formas...no lo sé, pero si sé que mis clientes reconocen mis piezas. ¿Será que transmiten toda la magia que les pongo al hacerlas?

What do you consider to be your personal touch?
To tell you the truth I don’t know… the mixture of colors, formats… I don’t know, but I do know that my clients recognize my designs. ¿Maybe they transmit the magic that I put in when I make them?

¿Qué planes tienes para el futuro?
Para un futuro lejano abrir mi propia tienda con mis creaciones (o mis propias tiendas). Para un futuro más próximo estudiar y practicar más con el vidrio aprendiendo de maestros del vidrio de todo el mundo.

¿Qué consejos nos puedes dar?

Jajajaja, ¡creo que es más que suficiente! Se van a cansar de tanto leerme, jejejeje!

What plans do you have for the future?
Long term I want to open my own store with my creations (or my own stores). In a near future to study and practice more with glass, learning from master glass artists all over the world.

Rosa De La Pasión - Passion Rose

“Puedes protestar porque las rosas tienen espinas, o puedes alegrarte porque las espinas tienen rosas” – Tom Wilson

Todo eso es muy cierto, pero nuestras rosas no tienen espinas. En su lugar están rodeadas con cristales preciosos en un tono rojo oscuro intenso, el color de la Pasión. Por eso decidimos nombrar este collar como Rosa de la Pasión.

El tono rojo oscuro significa amor, pasión, romance y sentimientos intensos. Y como Yves Saint Laurent muy inteligentemente dijo: “El más bello maquillaje para una mujer es la pasión”. Él sabe de qué está hablando ¿no te parece?

Entonces, usa tu Pasión con orgullo y mucha actitud, ¡muéstrale al Mundo que eres chica apasionada!

You can complain because roses have thorns, or you can rejoice because thorns have roses." - Tom Wilson

Well, this is all very true but our roses don’t have thorns. Instead, they are surrounded by gorgeous crystals in a fiery dark red, the color of Passion. So, this particular necklace has been named Passion Rose.

The dark red tone signifies love, passion, romance and intense feelings. And as Yves Saint Laurent very intelligently said: “The most beautiful make-up of a woman is passion”. He should know what he’s talking about, don’t you agree?

So, wear your Passion with pride and a lot of attitude, show the World you’re a passionate girl!
